Advanced Sniper & Instructor Program

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

The Provo Marriott, located at 101 West 100 North, Provo, UT, is the host hotel. Reservations can be made by calling 801-377-4700. Mention you will be attending the OpTac International Program to receive the special rate of $69 per night, for single or double occupancy rooms. Reservations must be made prior to March 19, 2008, to guarantee these rates.

 

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION (6 days):
The OpTac International Advanced Sniper & Instructor Program will be held April 12-17, 2008, in Provo, Utah.

This program is designed to teach advanced sniper tactics and operational marksmanship skills. A strong emphasis will be placed on urban sniping, the construction of urban hides, engagement of moving targets and targets at unknown distances, cold bore stress shots, fieldcraft/stalking, deployment skills, and scenarios.

There are no prerequisites to attend this program, however, students seeking Sniper Instructor Certification must have successfully completed the OpTac International or Operational Tactics Police Sniper Program and possess instructor certification (in any area) from their own jurisdiction or state training commission.

The cost to attend the OpTac International Advanced Sniper & Instructor Program is $899 per student. Any officer attending the preceding Police Sniper Program will receive a $100 discount off of the Advanced Program tuition. There is limited space available, therefore paid reservations will be accepted on a priority basis.

COURSE GOALS:

  • Understand and be able to perform tactics utilized in an urban environment
  • Be able to construct an urban hide
  • Understand and be able to perform stalking and positioning skills
  • Understand and be able to communicate field observations
  • Understand the effects of weather
  • Understand the techniques used to engage moving targets
  • Be able to successfully identify and engage suspect targets under a variety of conditions to include: command fire, stressful situations, cold bore shots, and moving targets
  • Understand and be able to engage targets under low-light and nighttime conditions
  • Understand and be able to perform range estimation exercises
  • Understand sniper instructional techniques and the responsibilities of a sniper instructor
  • Understand the functions of a police sniper and the tactics utilized in that capacity
