Urban Sniper Operations Program

The Residence Inn at Aventura Mall, located at 19900 West Country Club Dr., Aventura, Florida 33180, is the host hotel. Reservations can be made by calling 786-528-1001. Be sure to ask for the special OpTac International Program rate of $107.00 per night, for single or double occupancy rooms. Reservations must be made prior to February 4, 2008, to guarantee these rates. A complimentary breakfast buffet is included in the price.

COURSE DESCRIPTION (5 days):
The OpTac International Urban Sniper Operations Program will be held March 10-14, 2008, in N. Miami Beach, Florida.

This professional development program is designed to prepare law enforcement snipers for emergency response and surveillance operations that require observation and concealment techniques in an urban environment. A strong emphasis is placed on hide construction and deployment tactics in an urban environment, shooting through glass, tactical diagramming, marksmanship skills, urban fieldcraft/stalking skills, and observation/reporting techniques. Tactical scenarios and urban stalking exercises will enhance readiness for operational situations. The cost to attend the OpTac International Urban Sniper Operations Program is $699 per person. There is limited space available, therefore, paid reservations will be accepted on a priority basis.

COURSE GOALS:

Understand deployment concerns when operating in an urban environment
Understand the principles of sniper marksmanship skills
Understand and be able to perform precision sniper-fire from a variety of shooting positions
Be able to perform precision sniper-fire on suspect targets and cold bore targets located at different distances, under stressful conditions
Understand concerns regarding target engagement through glass
Understand and be able to engage targets under low-light and nighttime conditions
Understand and be able to perform urban stalking skills
Understand and be able to communicate field observations
Understand and be able to diagram field observations
Understand the functions of a police sniper and the tactics utilized in that capacity
