Tactical Breaching Instructor Program

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

The Residence Inn at Aventura Mall, located at 19900 West Country Club Dr., Aventura, Florida 33180, is the host hotel. Reservations can be made by calling 786-528-1001. Be sure to ask for the special OpTac International Program rate of $119.00 per night, for single or double occupancy rooms. Reservations must be made prior to July 14, 2008, to guarantee these rates. A complimentary breakfast buffet is included in the price.

COURSE DESCRIPTION (3 days):
The OpTac International Tactical Breaching Instructor Program will be held July 28-30, 2008, in N. Miami Beach, Florida.

This program is designed to teach advanced breaching skills and properly prepare officers to instruct law enforcement personnel in this area. A strong emphasis will be placed on the development of a tactical breaching plan and the following breaching methods: ram, pry bar, hydraulic, and ballistic/shotgun. An overview of explosive entry techniques and exothermic torches will be presented. In addition, training and operational safety standards/protocol, identification of fortifications, locking mechanisms, innovative breaching equipment, and advanced instructional techniques will be covered. The cost to attend the OpTac International Tactical Breaching Instructor Program is $599 per person. There is limited space available, therefore paid reservations will be accepted on a priority basis.

  • Understand and be able to conduct reconnaissance to develop a tactical breaching plan
  • Understand and be able to perform manual, ballistic/shotgun, and hydraulic breaching
  • Have reviewed the use and operation of exothermic torches
  • Be able to identify different types of fortifications
  • Be able to understand and identify locking mechanisms
  • Understand the importance of selecting the most appropriate breaching tool based on the operational situation
  • Successfully complete the Tactical Breaching Instructor Program written examination, instructor presentation, and qualification.
